October 2004
Ryan | 9.27.04On the last Thursday of August, we decided to drive down to DeKalb for the day. We met with a few friends and had the opportunity to attend the first weekly meeting of Crusade at NIU. As many of you know, NIU is where we both went to school. We spent our first year of marriage involved in students’ lives on campus and helping to run the ministry there.
It was at NIU where both of us were called into full-time ministry with Campus Crusade. We both saw how our time and talents helped to bring students closer to Christ. It was sad to move away and leave NIU behind, but we are excited for what God has planned for our future ministry in Indianapolis.
Seeing everyone again, plus all the new freshmen, was revitalizing. We were reminded of the impact that we had at NIU. Rachel saw many of the girls that she met with last year, and was encouraged to see their spiritual growth.
I had spent a lot of time my last year and a half at Northern, developing the website for CRU and the theme for the school year, “Make Your Mark.” A lot of changes were made to the ministry because of our goal to make our mark on campus. I was encouraged to see the focus continue this year with “Make Your Mark.”

Make your Mark asks two questions.
First, “What is the legacy you are leaving behind?” When we interact with someone in our lives, we leave a thought or impression behind. What mark are you leaving and what impact are you making?
Second, “Make Your Mark” is a plea to Jesus Christ to Make his Mark on our lives which happens when we live our lives in step with the Holy Spirit and encounter Him.
Rachel and I have both been changed by personal encounters with Jesus in our own lives, and we hope to reveal to students what a relationship with Christ is like, so that they too, would experience Jesus in their lives, and His mark would be made on their hearts.
Not only do we strive to introduce Christ to students in relevant and personal ways, but we also are focused on developing and training students to make their mark on peoples’ lives around them by introducing Christ to them.
As we continue to hear about the growth of the ministry at NIU this year from the staff on campus, we are able to look back and see the Mark we made at NIU. Through your prayers and involvement in our ministry Your Mark is being made on our lives and lives we touch.
In HIM,
Please Pray
> That God would continue to lead us to meet the individuals who he has raised up to be a part of our ministry.
> For the students at NIU / that they would continue to grow in their relationships with Christ and experience His Mark on their hearts.
