Catching a Vision

This month has been great, thank you so much for all of your prayers.

At the beginning of May, Ryan and I took a “Vision Trip” to Indianapolis to visit our assignment. I spent the day at planning meetings for the fall while Ryan spent time with the other people on his team at the office. We both attended my team’s farewell dinner for three of our staff. It was very emotional and encouraging. Since we have returned, our lives have been radically renewed and refreshed.

The best part, however, is the vision that I received from God about my ministry in Indianapolis. I have certainly felt called to go on staff and minister to college students. I never have felt that I had a “vision” for what I would be doing, other than the normal campus ministry stuff.

When we first thought about going on staff, I struggled a bit with giving up my nursing career. These past three years as a nurse have been wonderful, but every minute that I spend with students and staff has been fulfilling and life-altering.

In Indy, I learned of a fairly large medical and nursing school. I thought back to when I was in nursing school. My last year, I met with younger nursing students and led them through a Bible study on the characteristics of caring people. What great insight this had, as we worked with patients in the hospital! I, thought, why not use this type of material and my experience, to try to do the same in Indiana?

God had finally, after a year, given me a vision for why He called me onto staff. He showed me why He had it planned all along for me to be a nurse, and then use my experience to reach future doctors and nurses.

Of course, I will still be working with all different types of college students, participating in current movements on campus, as well as helping to start new ones on other campuses throughout Indiana. But, God had created a little niche just for me. He has shown me why the gifts He has given me are relevant to furthering His Kingdom.

I think of Esther, when learning that her people were doomed to destruction, was in the most opportune place to save her people. At first, she was scared, and didn’t want to do anything. But, her cousin Mordecai, in order to encourage her to step up and do something, said to her, “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” — Esther 4:14b

Ryan and I hold on to that, knowing that we are going to report to our assignment in God’s perfect timing, using both of our unique experiences and gifts to reach His people.

We know that each one of you have been given the gifts and have been placed where you are by God to reach his people as well.

Your partnership with us in our ministry helps us to do the same but, also increases your influence to another state or another region of the United States entirely. May God bless you for being a blessing to us.

In HIM,

Please Pray

> That Rachel and I would continue to see the vision for our ministry that God has laid before us, that he might mold us into what he desires.

> If it is in God’s will, that we would be able to finish our support this summer and join our teams in Indianapolis this fall.

> Rachel will not need surgery at this time and has not had any major problems so far. PRAISE God…read more.
