National Disasters!

September brought with it horrible tragedy: people lost homes, businesses, even lives, all along the Gulf Coast. Not just once, but several times these people were hit with devastating circumstances. The whole country has watched these victims suffer again and again. Many have given time, money, and resources to help these people find places to stay and food to eat. Many institutions are reaching out to provide jobs and educations to those who had to leave behind all that they had known.

How easy it is to see the physical tragedies in our world and respond, but it is just as easy to ignore the spiritual devastation that occurs on college campuses right now.

Among the spiritual “injuries” on campuses across the country, are the countless professors who openly criticize Christianity and mock those students who dare mention Christ in class and the growing number of student organizations to rally for Wicca, Paganism, and other false religions. There are too many sad stories of children growing up in Christian homes, nurtured and brought up in faith, only to be led away by anti-Christian professors, roommates, classmates, organizations, and activities.

How easy is it to ignore that the country’s next leaders want nothing to do with God or the Bible and who believe that anything goes. We forget to think about these students going on to teach our children and grandchildren, to govern our country, and to treat us when we are ill. These are the students that will go on the make new laws and influence the way our country works. Too many go through life, never hearing about Christ, never knowing someone who really follows Jesus.

While this spiritual devastation occurs on our campuses, as with national tragedies, there are people giving time, resources, and financial assistance to reach these precious students. In our region alone, there are almost 300 staff members and almost 1500 volunteers striving to reach college students. They give their time, both full-time and part-time to sharing the Gospel, discipling students, and training them to do the same.

These are the campuses that Rachel and I will be working with. One ministry, at Butler, has seen 15 students receive Christ in the past year alone. On a campus of only 4500 students, they have 200 involved with Crusade. That itself, is such an encouragement.

As we raise our support to go join the ministry in Indianapolis, will you join us by praying for these students? They so desperately need Jesus in their lives and they need older men and women around them, nurturing their faith and training them for ministry. They need fresh, inventive, and technological ways to hear the Gospel, as our society becomes more and more difficult to reach.

Your prayers and support for our ministry move us one step closer to that goal, to achieve whatever Christ would have us do for His kingdom.

In HIM,

Please Pray

> That Rachel and I would be diligent with our time spent communicating with individuals as well as our responsibilities in our training.

> That the Lord would bless the students in our region and reach into the hearts of those who do not yet know Him by working through the Holy Spirit.

> That we would continue to meet people who are excited to partner with us.
