What did we do during spring break this year? Well for the better part of the week I was sick in bed, not able to do much at all. Even though Rachel and I did not go to Panama City Beach for Big Break last week or this week and we will not be going next week either… Many college students are.
Every year Campus Crusade has sent students on a trip to Panama City Beach, along with the other thousands of students already there enjoying spring break the only way they know how. Their focus is to share the gospel in anyway they can with anyone that God brings across their path.
OHIO UNIVERSITY — Erin from Ohio University met Jesus last fall. She was ready to share with others about her new found relationship with Him. She and a friend began a conversation with four bikini-clad girls who were out for a day of sun on the beach. As things progressed, they asked if they could share about how to have a relationship with God. They were interested.
The girls’ attention never wavered as they went through the four points in the booklet called “How to Know God Personally.” When asked if they wanted to receive Christ, all four answered, “Of course we do!”
Floored by their response, Erin and her friend didn’t know what to do next. “We’ve never gotten this far before,” she later expressed. After a little awkwardness and a few laughs, someone suggested they all pray out loud together to invite Christ to be their Savior– so they did!
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, TWIN CITIES — The first day, Adam and a couple students approached three guys from Kentucky. Adam and one of the students finished short conversations. The other student, Jared, was able to share the Four Spiritual Laws booklet.
Not many of the students shared the gospel like Jared that first day, but after a campus training time on day two, the students went from timid to courageous. Student after student came back excited and saying, “I got to share the booklet!”
In the end, the timid freshmen from the University of Minnesota shared the gospel 130 times and led 26 people to Christ! Adam shares, “Before our trip, I wondered if the freshmen would slow down our sharing. But in hindsight, I think our evangelism went so well because of our freshmen and their desire to learn to share their faith.”
During campus sharing time, the group was asked what they thought was the best part of Big Break. There was no doubt in Adam’s mind. With tears in his eyes, Adam told the students, “This is why I gave my life to this ministry. To see you share your faith and to see God receive glory. Because of what you did on the beach this week, you changed eternity forever.”
This is also the reason that Rachel and I have given our lives to ministry and we hope why you will continue to pray for us as we raise our support and work ferfently to join our teams in Indianapolis.
Big Break is just one opportunity that Campus Crusade for Christ is taking to change students lives. This time of year students, parents, faculty and staff are being encouraged and changed for eternity. Many of which have joined the Christian family.
Whatever the opportunity, we are excited to be a part of what God is doing on college campuses around the world. We hope that your excitement level rises as well knowing the part the You play in our ministry and reaching the world for Christ.
In HIM,
Please Pray
> For the Students still in Panama City on spring break. That they would have a chance to encounter Jesus Christ through CCC.
> That the excitement of new relationships with God and seeing what God has done would not fizzle out back on campus once classes start again.
> That God would continue to lead us to the people He wants to complete our support.
