Francis in a box

[ Francis likes to live inside the box ]

Every month we receive a staff newsletter, with all the latest information on what is going on with staff around the world. It includes information about who got married, who had a baby, and who went home to be with the Lord, among other articles and bits and pieces of news.

Each newsletter has a main article written by our president, Steve Douglass. This month, he answered a question asked by a fellow staff member, “Are we allowed do that?” when discussing some “outside the box” approaches.

Steve answered him, “Not only do you have my permission, but also my encouragement. If your current strategies and materials are no longer effective like they used to be, you must find new and better ways to do what God has called you to do. It is part of the DNA of Campus Crusade.”

When I read that, I thought, “That’s what I want to do.” Not only did I feel all warm and fuzzy, but it also made me wish that I were at the office already helping to “find new and better ways to do what God has called us to do.”

Since Rachel and I have yet to join our teams in Indianapolis, we are trusting in the Lord’s timing and His sovereignty. As many of you have been praying for God’s provision and our deadline – June 12th has come and gone. We are getting closer to having our initial support complete but we are not there yet. We spoke to our support coach about our support situation and he agreed that we should take the rest of the summer to finish our support so that we can report with our teams for the fall semester.

Recently, we have seen some great things happen. But, it feels like we take two steps forward and then one, sometimes two steps back. We are still at 82%, but with some of the pledges given to us, we are closer to 86%, with about $1,000/month left to raise. We are hoping to be done by August, so we can move to Indy for the fall semester.

During this time of preparing for some major changes, please be praying for us. We need God’s wisdom regarding buying a home and a second car and the timing of it all. We also really need to see our support completed by the beginning of August.

We have also made some changes to our website and you can receive updated content by email. For those of you new to our ministry, we have our previous prayer letters archived. Check out February of ’06 for a great story about Rachel and some students praying with a young father from Indy to receive Christ. And, check out March ’05 to read about how staff like Ryan are using technology to help fulfill the Great Commission.

Please Pray

> For our support to be complete by the first week in August.

> Wisdom regarding buying a home and a car.

> For us to put our ministry in the Lord’s hands and trust His sovereignty.
